Critical Readings: The Right to Sex (Essay 1)

Datum:
Saturday, 17 February, 2024 - 14:00 to 17:00

This week, we will discuss the first essay (The Conspiracy Against Men) in the Right to Sex by Amia Srinivasan.
Thrilling, sharp, and deeply humane, philosopher Amia Srinivasan's The Right to Sex: Feminism in the Twenty-First Century upends the way we discuss—or avoid discussing—the problems and politics of sex.

How should we think about sex? It is a thing we have and also a thing we do; a supposedly private act laden with public meaning; a personal preference shaped by outside forces; a place where pleasure and ethics can pull wildly apart.

Social Screenings: The Confession (1970)

Datum:
Tuesday, 4 July, 2023 - 19:00 to 22:00

The Confession (L'aveu) is a 1970 French-Italian film directed by Costa-Gavras. It follows the story of the Czechoslovak communist Artur London, a defendant in the 1952 Slánský trial against "the leadership of the anti-state conspiracy centre". Unlike other defendants, London was not executed in the political trial and later wrote a memoir book together with his wife upon which the movie is based.

The event will be held in English. An informal discussion will follow the screening as always.
