One of the best-known examples of contemporary Japanese animation, this cyberpunk adventure is both a stunning visual achievement and an incisive critique of societal issues and technological progress run amok. In post-apocalyptic Neo-Tokyo, a teenage member of a biker gang develops telekinetic powers that place him at the center of a conflict where the fate of the world hangs in the balance against a backdrop of government corruption and secrecy, tribalism, and nuclear allegory.
