Century of the Self is 4-part documentary from 1992, which explores functioning of modern society, especially working of advertising, PR and mass media. Movie uses high amount of archive film material from BBC.
First part focuses on Edward Bernays, actually nephew of Sigmund Freud, who plays important role in development of all this. According to documentary, he used his uncles work to large extent.

Second part explores expansion of the usage of psychoanalysis in the USA after WW2, and the role of Freud's daughter Anna Freud and her specific form of psychoanalysis called Ego psychology in all this.
